RCC director Shivaraj Motegaonkar was taken into custody after searches in Maharashtra’s Latur uncovered documents and question material allegedly linked to the NEET-UG leak investigation

Maharashtra: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Shivaraj Motegaonkar, director of Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC) in Maharashtra’s Latur, in connection with the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, taking the total number of arrests in the investigation to ten.
According to officials, Motegaonkar was questioned for nearly 11 hours before being taken into custody. The agency later conducted searches at the RCC coaching institute and his residence, seizing laptops, mobile phones, documents and a chemistry question bank allegedly containing questions that matched those asked in the May 3 NEET-UG examination.
Investigators suspect Motegaonkar had close links with chemistry lecturer P.V. Kulkarni, who was earlier arrested for allegedly leaking chemistry questions connected to the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The CBI said it also carried out raids at five additional locations and is analysing seized electronic devices and financial records to trace the wider network behind the leak.
The agency has alleged that several accused organised “special coaching sessions” where leaked questions from biology and chemistry were discussed with students before the examination.
The case was registered on May 12 following a complaint from the Union Education Ministry. Nearly 23 lakh candidates had appeared for the NEET-UG examination conducted by the NTA this year.
