The BJP inducted five ministers into West Bengal’s first BJP-led government as Suvendu Adhikari took oath as Chief Minister at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground.

Kolkata: Alongside Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, five BJP leaders were inducted into the first BJP-led government in West Bengal. Governor R.N. Ravi administered the oath of office at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several NDA chief ministers.
Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh, a former state BJP president and ex-MP from Medinipur, was among those sworn in. Known for his organisational role in expanding the BJP’s presence in Bengal, Ghosh remains one of the party’s most prominent faces in the state.
Agnimitra Paul, BJP MLA from Asansol Dakshin and the only woman in the cabinet, also took oath. A two-time legislator and Bengal BJP vice-president, she retained her seat in the 2026 Assembly polls with a strong margin.
Ashok Kirtania, MLA from Bangaon Uttar in North 24 Parganas, joined the cabinet representing the politically significant Matua belt. Tribal leader Kshudiram Tudu, who represents Ranibandh in Bankura’s Jungle Mahal region, was also inducted as the BJP continued its outreach among tribal communities.
Nisith Pramanik, one of the BJP’s younger leaders from North Bengal and a former Union Minister of State, completed the list of ministers sworn in on Saturday.
