Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Results 2026: TVK Leads in 105 Seats, AINRC Ahead

Early trends show TVK surge in Tamil Nadu, while Puducherry sees a multi-cornered contest

Counting for the 234-seat Tamil Nadu Assembly began on May 4, with early trends signalling a major political shift. As of 11:20 am, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by C. Joseph Vijay, was ahead in 105 seats, followed by AIADMK+ (75) and DMK+ (47).

The April 23 polls recorded 85.1 percent turnout, with 4.8 crore votes cast. Counting is underway across 75,064 polling stations at 62 centres, with 1.25 lakh security personnel deployed.

In key seats, M. K. Stalin trailed in Kolathur (20,982) behind TVK’s 24,993 votes. In Tiruchi West, DMK’s K.N. Nehru led with 47,821 votes, ahead of TVK (45,147) by 2,674 votes. AIADMK led Lalgudi by 4,518 votes, while TVK led Sattur with 11,148 votes, a 654-vote margin.

Regionally, TVK led in 35 of 58 southern seats and in Erode, Sulur (20,957), and Singanallur (17,130). Meanwhile, AIADMK led Veerapandi (10,641) and Nannilam by 10,075 votes.

In Puducherry (30 seats), All India N.R. Congress led in 8 seats, BJP in 2, and others in 1 each, with 3 Independents. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy led Thattanchavady by 3,591 votes, while Yanam (722), Villianur (453), and Lawspet (981) saw tight margins.
