Over 4.38 lakh students await results after record participation this year

Guwahati: Assam’s High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) results for 2026 will be announced on April 10, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu confirmed on Thursday, bringing an end to days of anticipation among students and parents.
The declaration comes immediately after the completion of Assembly polling in the state, aligning with earlier indications that results would be released once the electoral process was underway.
This year has marked a significant milestone, with more than 4.38 lakh students appearing for the examination, the highest ever recorded by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). Despite the surge in numbers, authorities managed to complete the evaluation process within the expected timeline.
Officials had earlier indicated that the assessment work was nearing completion well in advance, with a majority of answer scripts already evaluated. To streamline the process, a total of 45 evaluation centres were activated across the state, ensuring both speed and accuracy.
The examinations were conducted in February across more than a thousand centres, with arrangements made to handle the increased volume of candidates.
