Jalukbari candidate seeks blessing, prays for Assam’s progress as voting begins across 126 constituencies
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister and Jalukbari candidate Himanta Biswa Sarma offered prayers at the revered Maa Kamakhya Temple on April 9, morning, as polling began across the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “On today’s polling day, I offered prayers to Maa Kamakhya. I prayed that Assam gets a good government, that the state moves forward on the path of development, and that peace and well-being prevail for everyone.”
The Chief Minister performed rituals at the temple and sought blessings for peace, prosperity, and development in the state.
Polling for the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly began at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm. The BJP leader is seeking re-election from the Jalukbari constituency, considered one of the party’s strongholds.
