Himanta Biswa Sarma Launches Second Leg of ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Jalukbari

Chief Minister expresses confidence of BJP sweep as outreach drive resumes across key constituencies

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma intensified his election campaign on March 23, flagging off the second phase of the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Jalukbari, his home constituency, amid heavy rain and strong public turnout.

Beginning at Atal Udyan in Guwahati, the roadshow moved through several busy localities, including Adabari, Pandu and Maligaon, drawing crowds along the route. The Chief Minister, standing atop a campaign vehicle, interacted with supporters throughout the journey, continuing despite the weather.

The campaign aims to directly connect with voters by highlighting governance initiatives and party priorities ahead of the Assembly elections. This leg follows the earlier phase of the yatra, which concluded earlier this month after spanning dozens of constituencies since its launch in Dhekiajuli.

Alongside the roadshow, the Chief Minister struck a confident note about the electoral battle, describing the upcoming contest as heavily tilted in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He suggested that the opposition lacked momentum and asserted that voters had already made their preference clear. He also indicated that the party’s manifesto would be unveiled shortly, outlining its agenda for the next term.

With nominations now complete and campaigning set to intensify with the arrival of national leaders, the BJP has begun consolidating its push for another term in Assam.
