Ambulance-Truck Collision in Sonitpur Claims Six Lives: Two Critically Injured

An ambulance carrying a patient and family members met with a devastating collision on NH-15 while en route to the hospital, leaving six dead on the spot and prompting an urgent investigation into the cause

Tezpur: Six people were killed, and two others sustained critical injuries after an ambulance collided with a truck in Assam’s Sonitpur district, police confirmed.

The ambulance was transporting a patient along with accompanying family members to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital when the accident occurred on National Highway 15 under the jurisdiction of Dhekiajuli police station.

Senior Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayasta stated that six occupants died at the scene, while the injured were immediately shifted to the hospital for urgent medical care.

Officials indicated that the force of the collision was intense, leaving the ambulance extensively damaged and resulting in fatalities on impact. Emergency responders and local police teams arrived swiftly, carrying out rescue and evacuation efforts.

Traffic along the highway was temporarily disrupted but later restored after authorities cleared the wreckage. Meanwhile, an inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to the crash.
