3 Kids Among 9 Killed in Massive Fire at Residential Building in Delhi

Blaze near Palam Metro Station triggers panic; several injured, some in critical condition

Delhi: At least nine people, including three children, lost their lives in a devastating fire that broke out in a multi-storey residential building in southwest Delhi on Wednesday morning. Several others sustained serious injuries, with some reported to be in critical condition.

According to police and fire department officials, the blaze erupted in the Shri Ram Chowk area near the Palam Metro Station at around 7 am. The fire control room received the alert shortly thereafter, prompting the immediate deployment of nearly 30 fire tenders to the site for rescue and firefighting operations.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, where authorities confirmed that the condition of several victims remains critical. The incident sparked panic in the neighbourhood, as residents scrambled to evacuate the building while thick smoke rapidly engulfed the structure.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Officials said an investigation is underway, with an electrical fault being considered as a possible trigger.

The scale of the tragedy, particularly the loss of young lives, has triggered widespread shock and grief, with calls growing louder for a thorough review of fire safety measures in residential buildings across the national capital.
