Lurinjyoti Gogoi to contest from Khowang; party announces candidates across key constituencies; with more candidates expected to be announced in the coming days

Guwahati: The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) on Tuesday, March 17 released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections 2026, marking its formal entry into the electoral contest and the beginning of its statewide campaign.
Party president Lurinjyoti Gogoi will contest from Khowang, reaffirming his leadership role at a crucial juncture for the regional party.
Among other candidates, Mainak Patra has been fielded from Dibrugarh, while Pankaj Lochan Goswami will contest from Palasbari and Dilip Barua from Bajali.The list also includes Jiban Chutia from Sarupathar, Rejaul Karim Chowdhury from Binnakandi, Bani Das from Morigaon, and Rajen Gohain from Barampur.
Party sources indicated that candidates for Central Guwahati and Sadiya will be announced in the next phase, signalling more strategic declarations ahead. With the first list out, the party has accelerated its preparations, with more candidates expected to be announced in the coming days.
