Sewli Mohilary Seeks BPF Ticket to Contest from Kokrajhar LAC

Supporters gather at the BPF offiice office as Sewli Mohilary submits an application; sitting MLA Pramila Rani Brahma may also re-enter the race for the seat

Kokrajhar: Sewli Mohilary has formally applied for a party ticket from the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) to contest from the Kokrajhar Legislative Assembly Constituency in the upcoming 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly election.

Mohilary submitted her application to Kokrajhar district BPF general secretary Dipti Prasad Brahma at the party’s district office on March 16, in the presence of a large number of party workers and supporters who gathered to express their support for her candidature.

Speaking to reporters after submitting the application, Mohilary said she is ready to contest the election if the party leadership places its trust in her. She also expressed confidence that the BPF would be able to secure a strong mandate in the constituency if given the opportunity to represent the party.

In recent weeks, Mohilary has been actively reaching out to residents across various areas of the constituency, holding meetings with local organisations, community leaders and supporters as part of her outreach efforts. She said the interactions are helping her understand the concerns and expectations of people in the constituency.

The Kokrajhar constituency, earlier known as Kokrajhar East, may witness a notable contest as incumbent MLA Pramila Rani Brahma is also reportedly considering contesting the seat again. If she enters the fray, it would mark her eighth attempt from the constituency.
