New facility at Dakshin Jalan Nagar aims to provide a permanent, well-equipped workspace for journalists

Dibrugarh: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday laid the foundation stone and performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the new office building of the Dibrugarh Press Club at Dakshin Jalan Nagar in Dibrugarh.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Cabinet Minister Prasanta Phukan, former Member of Parliament Rameswar Teli, and MLAs Binod Hazarika and Chakradhar Gogoi, along with members of the media fraternity and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders emphasised that the media serves as the fourth pillar of democracy and plays a crucial role in strengthening the nation by ensuring transparency, accountability, and informed public discourse.
The upcoming press club building will provide journalists with a permanent and well-equipped workspace for conducting press conferences, meetings and other professional activities. The facility is expected to benefit journalists in the region and further strengthen the role of the media in society.
