Rs 28.5 crore Women’s University campus dedicated, Rs 75 crore hostel grant announced, Law College and 3 new schools inaugurated in Jorhat

Jorhat: Assam marked a significant milestone in its educational journey as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated the new campus of Assam Women’s University, at Kaliapani under Mariani LAC.
Built at a cost of Rs 28.5 crore, the modern campus strengthens the university’s unique position as the only women’s university in the entire North-East. To further support students, especially those from remote and rural areas, the Chief Minister also announced an additional Rs 75 crore grant for hostel construction, ensuring improved access to safe and comfortable accommodation.

Continuing the government’s push for inclusive and quality education, the Chief Minister inaugurated the new campus of Jorhat Government Law College, constructed at an expenditure of Rs 17 crore the state-of-the-art facility will further strengthen legal education.

virtually inaugurated the Gabharu Tea Estate Model School and Khanikar Tea Estate Model School at Mariani, constructed at a total cost of Rs 6 crore under RIDF XXVIII. These institutions form part of the larger initiative to establish 100 Tea Garden Model Schools across Assam, ensuring that quality education reaches students in tea garden and remote communities.
On the occasion, three Adarsha Vidyalayas were also inaugurated, including the two Tea Garden Model Schools, further expanding educational access for underserved sections and strengthening the region’s academic infrastructure.
