Donald Trump Hikes Worldwide Tariffs to 15%: Slams Court Ruling

Announcement on Truth Social follows criticism of the Supreme Court of the United States decision on trade duties

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has announced an immediate increase in worldwide tariffs to 15 percent, raising the existing 10 percent levy on imports from all countries, citing what he described as an “anti-American” court ruling on trade policy.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the move followed a “thorough, detailed, and complete review” of a recent decision by the Supreme Court of the United States that struck down aspects of his earlier reciprocal tariff framework.

Calling the ruling “ridiculous” and “poorly written,” Trump said the higher rate was within legal limits and would take effect immediately. He argued that several countries had been “ripping off” the United States for decades and that stronger tariffs were necessary to protect American industry.

The President added that his administration would, over the coming months, determine and notify additional country-specific tariffs that are “legally permissible,” as part of what he described as efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing and continue the “Make America Great Again” agenda.

The announcement signals a tougher trade stance and could have implications for global exporters, including major trading partners that rely heavily on access to the US market.
