Prime Minister to inaugurate projects flag off buses and touch down at Moran

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma outlined Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the state, detailing a day-long schedule focused on major development initiatives, infrastructure projects and a public outreach programme.
According to the Chief Minister, PM Modi will begin his visit in Moran, where he will inaugurate two key projects and formally launch the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). The move is aimed at strengthening higher education infrastructure and expanding academic opportunities in Assam.
In a push for sustainable urban mobility, Modi will flag off 100 electric buses each for Dibrugarh and Guwahati, a step expected to enhance public transport and promote eco-friendly commuting. He will also inaugurate the National Data Centre in Guwahati, which is seen as a significant addition to the region’s digital and technological capabilities.
Additionally, Modi will inaugurate the newly built ‘Kumar Bhaskarvarma Setu’, connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati over the Brahmaputra.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will attend a BJP public gathering at the Khanapara playground in Guwahati, where the Prime Minister is scheduled to address the party workers, including more than 30,000 booth presidents and beneficiaries of various state and Centre-run schemes.
One of the key highlights of the visit will be at Moran in Dibrugarh, where the Prime Minister’s aircraft is scheduled to land directly on the National Highway instead of the airport. Indian Air Force aircraft, including Rafale and Sukhoi fighter jets and several other aircraft that took part in the Guwahati Air show, are also expected to land on the highway as part of the programme. Modi is likely to remain there for around 30 to 40 minutes before departing.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister further stated that the Prime Minister is expected to visit Assam again in March, underscoring the Centre’s continued focus on the state’s development.
