Late-Night Fire Guts Scrap Shop on BK Kakati Road

Blaze near Nabagraha Kali Mandir contained swiftly; no casualties reported, probe underway

Guwahati: A major fire broke out at a scrap shop on BK Kakati Road in Guwahati around 9:30 PM on Tuesday, triggering panic in the area. The incident, however, fortunately did not result in any injuries or loss of life.

The incident occurred near the Nabagraha Dasa Mahavidya Kali Mandir. According to officials, the flames rapidly engulfed the scrap shop, completely gutting the structure. However, a nearby wood shop and the Kali temple narrowly escaped damage.

Furthermore, at least four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firefighters battled the blaze for an extended period before bringing it under control and preventing it from spreading to adjoining buildings.

A fire service personnel member said the department received the alert around 9:30 PM and responded immediately. Preliminary assessment suggests the fire may have originated from a small fire lit inside the shop to keep warm amid the cold weather.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.
