The address marked the formal beginning of the session, setting the tone for key policy discussions, reforms, and debates expected over the coming weeks.
President Droupadi Murmu’s address offered a comprehensive overview of India’s progress, priorities and aspirations as the nation enters the second phase of the 21st century. Reflecting on the past year, she highlighted how celebrations of national milestones, from 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ to tributes to icons such as Guru Tegh Bahadur, Birsa Munda, Sardar Patel and Bhupen Hazarika have strengthened unity and inspired the younger generation.
The President underscored social justice as a core constitutional value, noting that over 25 crore people have moved out of poverty in the last decade. She detailed major welfare initiatives, including housing for the poor, tap water connections, LPG coverage, expanded social security and record direct benefit transfers, stressing that inclusive growth remains central to governance.

Healthcare, education and infrastructure featured prominently, with achievements ranging from ‘Ayushman Bharat’s’ free treatments to the expansion of railways, highways, metro networks and inland waterways. She also highlighted India’s growing strength in manufacturing, exports, digital innovation and startups, alongside reforms in taxation, labour laws and governance.
Emphasising women-led development, the President pointed to the rise of self-help groups, ‘Lakhpati Didis’, women entrepreneurs and the historic graduation of women cadets from the NDA. Agriculture, rural employment, tribal welfare and the development of the North East were presented as key pillars of balanced national growth.
On the global stage, she believes India continues to act as a bridge amid geopolitical uncertainties, amplifying the voice of the Global South while upholding national interest. Concluding her address, President Murmu called for unity across political lines, urging Parliament and citizens alike to work together to realise the shared vision of a developed, confident and self-reliant India.
