Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributes seed capital to over 36,000 women, underscoring 100 days of sustained commitment to women-led development across Assam

Teok: Teok marked a historic moment in Assam’s women empowerment journey on Thursday as the 100th meeting under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) was held, symbolising 100 days of continuous and focused effort towards strengthening women-led entrepreneurship in the state.
At the landmark event, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially distributed Rs. 10,000 each as seed capital to 36,319 women beneficiaries, described as ‘Nari-preneurs’ under the scheme. The milestone reflects the expanding reach and growing impact of MMUA, which has emerged as one of Assam’s most ambitious initiatives aimed at promoting financial independence and grassroots enterprise among women.

According to the officials, the 100th drive stands as a testament to the state government’s sustained commitment to placing women at the centre of Assam’s development agenda. Since its launch, MMUA has steadily scaled up its outreach, enabling thousands of women to start small businesses, strengthen livelihoods, and contribute actively to local economies.
The initiative focuses on empowering women through seed capital, skill development, and institutional support, enabling them to become self-reliant and economically confident. With Teok hosting the 100th drive, MMUA has reinforced its role as a transformative platform for women’s empowerment, community resilience, and inclusive growth. The milestone event also signals the government’s intent to further expand the programme, ensuring that women remain key drivers of Assam’s social and economic progress.
