Modern multilevel facility addresses rising vehicle pressure in the city core.
Ensures smoother traffic flow and organised parking for residents and officials.

Shillong: A significant boost to urban infrastructure was marked with the inauguration of a modern multilevel car park facility by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. Developed under Shillong Smart City Limited and strategically located adjacent to the Additional State Secretariat, the project is set to address long-standing parking shortages and streamline vehicular movement in one of the city’s busiest administrative zones.
Designed to enhance urban mobility, the structured parking system will help reduce roadside parking and ease chronic traffic congestion that has challenged commuters and visitors for years. By providing dedicated and organised parking spaces, the facility aims to ensure smoother traffic flow and improved accessibility around key government offices and surrounding areas.

Officials noted that the facility forms part of broader Smart City initiatives focused on sustainable, technology-driven urban development. The infrastructure upgrade is expected to improve daily convenience, reduce travel delays, and strengthen overall traffic management in the locality.
With rising vehicle numbers placing increasing pressure on roads and public spaces, the new multilevel car park offers a practical and forward-looking solution. The project underscores the government’s commitment to modernising civic amenities and creating a more efficient, commuter-friendly urban environment for residents and visitors alike.
