Demow, Sivasagar and Nazira constituencies get demonstration hubs to educate voters
Sivasagar: The Sivasagar district administration has launched a comprehensive voter awareness initiative with the opening of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) Demonstration Centres across all three Assembly constituencies to ensure that voters are well-informed about the correct voting process.
Acting on directives from the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, the centres became operational from February 5, 2026, in 95 No. Demow, 96 No. Sivasagar and 97 No. Nazira constituencies. The initiative aims to familiarise electors with the functioning of EVMs and promote error-free and confident participation during elections.
The demonstration centres have been established at key administrative locations, including the District Commissioner’s Office in Sivasagar and the offices of the Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil) in Sivasagar and Nazira, making them easily accessible to the public.
To further strengthen outreach efforts, the district administration has also introduced Mobile Demonstration Vans that will travel across different areas to educate voters at the grassroots level. These vans will provide hands-on demonstrations and clarify doubts regarding the voting procedure.
District Commissioner and District Election Officer Shri Mridul Yadav formally flagged off the mobile vans from the District Commissioner’s Office, reiterating the administration’s commitment to enhancing voter awareness and participation.
Officials have urged citizens to make full use of these facilities, describing the initiative as a key step towards ensuring informed, transparent and smooth electoral participation across the district.
