Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches Rural Push in Tripura: CM Saha Flags 125-Day Jobs Plan

Road infrastructure, housing, crop insurance and 125 days of guaranteed rural work mark a major step toward grassroots development

Agartala: Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday launched a series of rural infrastructure and welfare initiatives in Agartala, reaffirming the Centre’s focus on strengthening villages as the foundation of a developed India.

Accompanied by Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Chouhan virtually inaugurated, laid foundation stones and performed bhoomipujan for multiple roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and other key rural development projects.

During the programme, insurance certificates were distributed to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, while approval letters were handed over to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin. Women associated with Self-Help Groups also received support aimed at promoting financial independence and entrepreneurship.

Addressing the gathering, Chouhan stressed that empowering villages, ensuring farmers’ prosperity, and enabling women and youth to become self-reliant remain central to the government’s vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

At the same event, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha highlighted the VB-G RAM G initiative as a transformative step for rural Tripura. He said the new law guarantees 125 days of employment, with work plans prepared through Gram Sabha meetings to reflect local needs, along with timely wage payments and improved implementation mechanisms.

The Chief Minister described the programme as a key tool for sustainable livelihoods and inclusive growth, noting that stronger village-level planning would accelerate Tripura’s development and contribute to the broader progress of rural India.
