m , honoured in the Assamese category, Sahaisuli Brahma receives award for Bodo literature

Guwahati: The Sahitya Akademi on March 16 announced the recipients of the Sahitya Akademi Award for 2025, recognising 24 authors for their contributions to literature in 24 Indian languages.
In the Assamese category, prominent writer Devabrat Das was chosen for his novel Karhi Khelar Sadhu. In the Bodo language category, Sahaisuli Brahma received the honour for the novel Dwngnwi Lama Mwnse Gathwn.
Devabrat Das is widely known for his literary work Hiyar Pokhilabor and has built a reputation as a novelist, short story writer and columnist. His first collection of short stories, Arpitar Erati, was published in 1981. Alongside his literary career, he also worked as an officer with the Reserve Bank of India.
Over the years, he has written several notable works including Hoitoba Bheson Aru Anyanya Galpa, Bishoy Muloto Prem, Devabrat Dasor Nirbachita Galpa, Godhulirpora Godhuliloi, and Dhusarotar Kabya.
Among other winners, Prasun Bandyopadhyay was selected in the Bengali category for the poetry collection Shreshtha Kabita. In English, Navtej Sarna was honoured for the novel Crimson Spring, while Yogesh Vaidya received the award in Hindi for his poetry collection Bhattkhadaki.
The awards are scheduled to be presented at a ceremony in New Delhi on March 31.
