With the inauguration of 67 new school buildings and foundation laying for 61 more across multiple districts, Assam reinforces its commitment to holistic, future-ready education backed by an investment of around Rs.760 crore

Sonapur: Assam marked a landmark moment in its educational journey with a central event held at Sonapur Higher Secondary School, where Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accompanied by the Education Minister Ranoj Pegu virtually inaugurated 67 newly constructed school buildings.
Moreover, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for another 61 schools across the state. These projects are being implemented under key national and state funding mechanisms, including NESIDS, PM-DevINE, RIDF–XXIX, and RIDF–XXXI, with a combined investment of approximately Rs. 760 crore.
The initiative reflects Assam’s focused strategy to strengthen educational infrastructure and ensure equitable access to quality learning environments across urban and rural districts alike. The presence of several honourable ministers and MLAs across various districts underscored the collective commitment of the state leadership towards education-led development.

Beyond infrastructure, the state’s education reforms are rooted in a holistic approach, combining modern facilities with student-centric financial support schemes and policy interventions. From smart classrooms and improved learning spaces to initiatives that reduce financial barriers for students, Assam is steadily building an ecosystem that nurtures talent and aspiration.
