Calls technology a lifeline for citizens, backs skill development and inclusive innovation nationwide
Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu addressed the ‘Black Swan Summit, India’ in Bhubaneswar, organised by the Government of Odisha in collaboration with the Global Finance and Technology Network, emphasising the transformative role of fintech, digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence in driving inclusive national growth.
Lauding the Odisha government’s launch of BharatNetra, she said the initiative would help build a future-ready workforce and strengthen innovation across digital, financial and insurance technology sectors. The programme, she noted, aligns with India’s broader vision of creating robust skill ecosystems and global capability centres.
Highlighting the real-world impact of financial technology, the President observed that fintech has become a daily lifeline for millions. With just a smartphone and a basic bank account, women receive welfare benefits directly, farmers get timely payments, and small kirana shops accept seamless digital transactions. She stressed that India’s fintech story should be remembered not only for technological progress but also for advancing gender justice and financial inclusion.
Murmu also underscored the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence, pointing to the Government of India’s IndiaAI Mission, which promotes research, innovation and ethical deployment of AI solutions. Investments in skill development and innovation capacity, she said, represent critical investments in human capital.
The summit reflected India’s commitment to harnessing technology as a tool for equitable development and long-term economic resilience.
