Funds cleared for 10 road and 16 bridge projects to strengthen connectivity and cut travel time across the state

Guwahati: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has approved infrastructure projects worth over Rs 748 crore for Assam under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), giving a major push to the state’s transport network.

According to the minister, Rs 617.98 crore has been sanctioned for 10 road development works, while an additional Rs 129.74 crore has been allocated for 16 bridge projects under the CRIF Setu Bandhan scheme.

The projects aim to upgrade regional connectivity, ease traffic flow and improve transportation efficiency across key routes. Improved roads and bridges are expected to reduce travel time, ensure smoother movement of goods and passengers, and enhance access to remote areas.

Officials said the initiatives will also strengthen trade and logistics, while contributing to the state’s broader socio-economic growth by supporting commerce, employment and faster mobility.

The approvals mark another significant step in expanding Assam’s core infrastructure and accelerating development across both urban and rural regions.
