Nalbari Advances ‘Atmanirbhar Assam’ as 30,806 Beneficiaries Receive MMUA Support

91st MMUA meeting highlights women-led growth and grassroots empowerment in Nalbari

Barkheti:  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, today distributed cheques under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) among the members of Self-Help Groups of the Barkhetri LAC at a programme held at Naptipara in Nalbari district.

The scheme reaffirms the government’s significant step towards women-led economic empowerment, as 30,806 women beneficiaries received financial assistance. They were given Rs. 10,000 each to support and promote livelihood and self-reliance schemes for women entrepreneurs at large. The initiative focuses on supporting and encouraging opportunities for income creation with women at the forefront of local development.

While Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who had ceremonially handed out the cheques, focused his remarks on the transformative role of women in Assam’s development journey. Reflecting on the impact of the scheme, he said, “Barkhetri has done its part towards realising an Atmanirbhar Assam. The 30,000+ sisters who received ₹10,000 MMUA today are not just Naripreneurs, they’re role models who will inspire the next gen. As their brother, I am proud to help their hopes & aspirations take flight.”

The event once again reiterates that Nari Shakti remains a core component of growth from the state government side. It also underscores that by supporting women at the grassroots levels, long-term growth and stability will ensue.

The event was also attended by Minister for Environment Chandra Mohan Patowary, Shri Narayan Deka, Chairman, GMDA & Ex. MLA Barkhetri LAC, Shri Kuntal Moni Sarma Bordoloi, IAS, MD, ASRLM, Shri Nibedan Das Patowary, ACS, District Commissioner, Nalbari along with several other distinguished personalities. With initiatives like MMUA, Assam continues to move towards a more inclusive and self-reliant economic model, where women play a central and decisive role in shaping the state’s future.
