Nagaon: Batadrava Than, one of Assam’s most revered spiritual centres and the birthplace of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, is gearing up for the sacred Doul Yatra Mahotsav 2026 with extensive infrastructural preparations to accommodate the large influx of devotees.

In this regard, District Commissioner Devashish Sharma visited the Than on February 3 to assess the progress of ongoing development works and ensure readiness ahead of the festival.

During the inspection, the District Commissioner closely reviewed the construction of a dedicated kitchen facility along the banks of the Akashiganga. The kitchen is being developed to cater to the food requirements of thousands of devotees expected to attend the festival from across the state. He examined the quality and pace of the work and interacted with engineers and contractors involved in the project.

Accompanied by departmental officials and members of the Batadrava Than Management Committee, the DC also toured various sections of the premises to gain a comprehensive understanding of the arrangements being put in place for crowd management and smooth festival operations.

With lakhs expected to gather for the historic Doul Yatra, the government’s focused efforts aim to ensure that the celebrations are conducted seamlessly, preserving both the sanctity of the occasion and the comfort of the pilgrims.
