Prime Minister to attend programmes in Kokrajhar, Guwahati and Silchar, launch BTC infrastructure projects, dedicate Kapili Hydro Project and lay foundation of Rs 22,000 crore Silchar Guwahati Express Highway.
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on March 13 and 14 to inaugurate several development projects and distribute land rights certificates to members of the tea garden community, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Modi will begin his tour in Kokrajhar, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several development projects. The Prime Minister will also address a public meeting in the town as part of his visit.
On March 13, he will travel to Guwahati and attend a programme where he will release an instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) scheme. The highlight of the visit will be the distribution of land pattas to members of the tea garden community, who have been living in Assam for nearly 200 years but have largely remained without formal land ownership.
The Chief Minister stated that the PM will hand over the first land rights certificate to a deserving tea garden worker, formally launching a statewide programme to grant land ownership to tea garden families.
During the visit, Modi will also dedicate the 150 MW Kopili Hydro Power Project, a state government initiative, to the nation.
On March 14, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Silchar, where he will lay the foundation stone of the proposed Silchar Shillong Guwahati Express Highway, estimated to cost around Rs 22,000 crore. He will also address a public meeting in the town.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam on March 15 to inaugurate Pragjyotishpur Medical College in Guwahati and attend the Yuva Sankalp Samavesh organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara. Around one lakh youth workers are expected to participate.
