Initiative aims to strengthen small businesses and equip youth with modern enterprise skills

Aizwal: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma on Thursday inaugurated the Micro & Small Entrepreneurs Excellence Project along with the Mizoram Entrepreneurs Development Forum at the I&PR Conference Hall, marking a major step toward strengthening the state’s MSME ecosystem.
The initiatives are being jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry – Centre for Excellence on Employment & Livelihood (CII CEL) and the Government of Mizoram to support existing micro and small business owners and encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to expand their enterprises.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Mizos have long been known for their skills, craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit, adding that the state holds strong potential in the MSME sector. He highlighted the success of Mizo youths at national skill competitions, including top performances at the IndiaSkills events, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to nurturing talent through schemes such as the flagship Handholding Scheme.
The Chief Minister noted that while local entrepreneurs are self-driven and capable, they must continuously upgrade their knowledge and adapt to modern business practices to stay competitive in a rapidly changing global economy. The newly launched project, he said, would help MSMEs grow and scale their operations.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister appreciated CII CEL and the Volvo Group, whose CSR support will allow participants to join the programme free of cost. The one-year initiative will train 70 selected entrepreneurs, providing them with contemporary skills, industry exposure and a dedicated platform to engage with experts.
