Meghalaya CM Hands Over Appointment Letters To 2,968 Police Recruits

One of the largest police recruitments in the state aims to strengthen law and order across Meghalaya

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma handed over appointment letters to 2,968 newly recruited personnel of the Meghalaya Police at the 2nd MLP Battalion in Goeragre.

The induction marks one of the largest recruitments into the state police force in recent years and is expected to significantly strengthen law and order and security across Meghalaya.

Speaking at the programme, the Meghalaya CM states that the recruitment process saw over 1.7 lakh applicants, reflecting the aspirations of the state’s youth and the government’s emphasis on merit and transparency in the selection process.

The Chief Minister further reminded the recruits that wearing the police uniform comes with a deep responsibility to uphold discipline and earn the trust of the people.“The uniform represents discipline, fairness, and trust, and carries the responsibility of serving the people,” the Chief Minister said.

Sangma urged the newly appointed personnel to perform their duties with dedication, integrity, and humility, stressing that their role will be crucial in maintaining peace and ensuring public safety across the state.

Congratulating the recruits and their families, he added that the new personnel will play an important role in strengthening the police force and safeguarding communities throughout Meghalaya.
