Two-day fair showcases farm produce, training sessions, and direct market access for cultivators

Nagaon: The two-day Krishak Mela 2026 began on February 12 at the District Library premises in Nagaon, organised by the District Agriculture Department and the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) with active support from the district administration. The initiative aims to strengthen farmers’ livelihoods by connecting them directly with consumers and promoting modern agricultural practices.

The fair was formally inaugurated by District Commissioner Devashish Sharma. Farmers from across the district have put up stalls displaying a wide range of fresh agricultural produce grown through their hard work. The exhibition-cum-sale provides customers with the opportunity to buy products directly from cultivators, ensuring better prices for farmers while offering fresh goods to buyers.
Beyond the marketplace, the event also focuses on knowledge-sharing. Experts are conducting special training sessions at the District Library auditorium on improved and scientific farming methods. Buyer–seller meetings have also been arranged to help farmers understand market trends and secure fair value for their produce.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, progressive farmers selected from all 13 development blocks of the district were felicitated for their dedication and achievements in agriculture.
Several dignitaries, including scientists, agriculture officials, and veterinary experts, attended the programme. The enthusiastic participation of farmers and officials alike transformed the Krishak Mela into a lively and productive platform for learning, exchange, and growth.
