Jamugurihat Hosts Grand Sankardev Sangha Meet, CM Pays Tributes

Three-day conference celebrates Vaishnavite legacy, unity, culture and spiritual harmony

Jamugurihat: The 95th Annual Conference of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha commenced with devotion and grandeur at Jyoti–Bishnu Samannay Kshetra, Dholaibil–Naharbari Pathar in Jamugurihat, drawing thousands of devotees, members, and community leaders from across Assam.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the inaugural session and offered rich tributes to Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, recalling his enduring legacy as a spiritual reformer, social unifier, and cultural icon. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Gurujona’s ideals of humanity, equality, and devotion, along with his vast literary and cultural contributions, continue to guide Assam’s identity and strengthen social harmony.

The three-day event was formally inaugurated by District Commissioner Shri Ananda Kumar Das through a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by traditional rituals and prayers that set a solemn and devotional tone. He was later felicitated by the organising committee in recognition of his presence and support.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Barun Purkayastha and several district officials were also present, ensuring smooth arrangements and coordination for the large congregation.

The annual conference serves as an important platform for spiritual discourse, cultural exchange, and community bonding. A series of devotional programmes, discussions, and cultural sessions have been scheduled to promote the teachings of Srimanta Sankardev, focusing on unity, moral values, and collective responsibility.

With enthusiastic participation and disciplined organisation, the conference reinforces the Sangha’s vital role in preserving Assam’s Vaishnavite traditions while inspiring faith, peace, and social cohesion across communities.
