Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s historic 175 leads dominant 100-run victory over England in Harare final

Harare: India’s Under-19 cricket team were crowned ICC U19 World Cup 2026 champions, securing their sixth title after a commanding performance against England at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on Friday. The final saw India wins by 100 runs, reinforcing their supremacy in age-group cricket on the global stage.

Winning the toss and batting first, India posted a massive 411/9 in 50 overs, with a breathtaking innings from 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored 175 runs off just 80 balls. His knock featured 15 fours and 15 sixes, breaking several records, including the highest individual score in an Under-19 World Cup final and the most sixes in a single tournament edition.
Suryavanshi’s knock eclipsed previous greats and cemented his place in youth cricket history, propelling India to a daunting total that put immense pressure on the England batting line-up. Fellow contributor Ayush Mhatre also played a key supporting role, adding a valuable score in the middle order as India amassed the huge total.

In response, England fought hard but were restricted to 311 all out, falling well short of the target as India celebrated a comprehensive 100-run victory.
This triumph extends India’s remarkable record in the tournament, bringing home the title for the sixth time and further asserting its strong tradition of producing world-class young talent.
Overall, the final was a showcase of explosive batting, disciplined bowling and India’s ability to deliver under pressure, signalling a bright future for the next generation of Indian cricket stars.
