Himanta Biswa Sarma Dedicates Rs 337 Crore Development Projects in Barak Valley

Barak Valley Secretariat, bridges and key infrastructure projects inaugurated across Cachar, Hailakandi and Sreebhumi

Silchar: : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday dedicated development projects worth over Rs 337 crore across Barak Valley, marking a significant step in strengthening infrastructure and governance in the region.

The projects span the districts of Cachar, Hailakandi, and Sribhumi, covering a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving connectivity, administrative efficiency and public facilities.

Among the major highlights was the inauguration of the new secretariat building in Silchar, which is expected to bring government services closer to the people of the valley and strengthen administrative coordination in the region.

In addition to the secretariat, the chief minister also dedicated several infrastructure projects including bridges, cultural centres and other public facilities designed to enhance connectivity and community development across the three districts.

Officials said the projects are expected to play a crucial role in boosting regional development, improving access to government services and strengthening socio-economic growth in Barak Valley.

The initiatives reflect the state government’s broader push to accelerate infrastructure development and bring governance closer to citizens, particularly in regions with growing administrative and connectivity needs.

With these new projects, Barak Valley is set to witness improved infrastructure and expanded opportunities, reinforcing the region’s role in Assam’s overall development agenda.
