Upgraded facility to improve coordination, planning and response mechanisms for emergencies across the district

Tezpur: In a significant step towards strengthening disaster management infrastructure, the District Commissioner-cum-Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Sonitpur, Shri Ananda Kumar Das, on Thursday inaugurated the newly renovated Conference Hall at the DDMA office. The ceremony was marked by a ribbon-cutting event, symbolising the beginning of enhanced administrative preparedness in the district.
The modernised hall is designed to facilitate smoother coordination, effective planning sessions and timely review meetings related to disaster preparedness and emergency response. Officials said the upgraded space will help streamline communication and decision-making during critical situations, ensuring faster and more organised action.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several senior officials, including Additional District Commissioner-cum-CEO of DDMA, Shri Kamal Baruah, Co-District Commissioner of Dhekiajuli, Smti Dyotiba Bora, Additional District Commissioner, Shri James Aind, and Circle Officer of Tezpur Revenue Circle, Shri Madhurjya Buragohain. Assistant Commissioners, along with other officers and staff members of DDMA and the District Administration, also attended the programme.
The initiative reflects the district administration’s continued focus on strengthening institutional capacity and improving disaster resilience. With better infrastructure and coordinated efforts, Sonitpur aims to enhance its readiness to handle natural calamities and safeguard lives and property.
The development underscores the administration’s commitment to public service, good governance and proactive disaster management across the district.
