Court Rejects Bail of Three Accused in Zubeen Garg Death Case

Kamrup Metro District and Sessions Court denies bail to Amritprabha Mahanta and two PSOs, citing the gravity of the offence; next hearing scheduled for February 13

Guwahati: In a significant development in the ongoing high-profile Zubeen Garg death case, the Kamrup Metro District and Sessions Court on Friday rejected the bail applications of three accused, Amritprabha Mahanta and the singer’s two Personal Security Officers (PSOs), Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora.

The decision follows a crucial hearing held on January 22 on the bail pleas of all five accused, including Shyamkanu Mahanta, Amritprabha Mahanta, Sandipan Garg, Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya. The court denied relief, observing the serious nature and gravity of the allegations.

Speaking to the media, Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima Saikia, expressed relief at the order but voiced concern over new legal developments. She said a discharge petition had been filed by Siddhartha Sharma and added that petitions concerning his business entity, Mahabir Aqua, and an apartment at Orchid View Apartments in Fatasil Ambari were also submitted.

Special Public Prosecutor Ziaul Kamar stated that Amritprabha Mahanta was allegedly involved in a conspiracy linked to Garg’s untimely death in Singapore on September 13. He further noted that the two PSOs were denied bail due to their alleged role in the improper handling of the singer’s finances.

The court has fixed February 13 as the next date of hearing, as the case continues to draw closer to public and legal scrutiny.
