AIUDF chief says Congress losing its MLAs to BJP proves it is acting as the ruling party’s “A-team” in Assam.

Guwahati: President of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Badruddin Ajmal, has accused the Indian National Congress (INC) of indirectly helping the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam, claiming the party has failed to keep its own legislators united.
Speaking to the media, Ajmal said the AIUDF remains firmly committed to opposing the BJP and removing it from power. “We are fighting to stop the BJP, but the Congress is acting as their ‘A-team’ by losing its leaders to them,” he said.
He pointed out that several Congress MLAs have already joined the BJP in Assam. Rejecting allegations that the AIUDF is helping the BJP, Ajmal said only a few members had left his party, and those individuals had already been expelled. “The number of leaders leaving Congress for the BJP is far higher,” he added.
Ajmal also criticised what he described as injustice faced by certain communities in Assam, referring to eviction drives and incidents where people are allegedly abused by being called “Miya”. He said his party would continue to raise its voice against such actions and stand with those who feel humiliated or marginalised.
Meanwhile, in preparation for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, the AIUDF announced its first list of candidates for nine constituencies: Nizanur Rahman from Gauripur, Rejaul Karim Sarkar from Srijangram, Matiur Rahman from Dhing, Sabana Aktar from Bilasipara, Siddique Ahmed from Laharighat, along with other nominees. Ajmal said the party would release additional names as the election process gathers pace.
Reiterating his party’s position, Ajmal said the AIUDF would continue its political fight against the BJP while defending the rights and dignity of people facing discrimination in the state.
