Chief Minister inaugurates key infrastructure, distributes MMUA assistance to over 36,000 women, marking a major push for growth, connectivity and women-led entrepreneurship

Golaghat: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday arrived in Golaghat to inaugurate major development projects and distribute financial assistance to women beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA), signalling a new phase of growth for the district.
Marking the first programme of his visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed Integrated District Commissioner’s Office, aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and public service delivery in Golaghat.
On the sidelines of the MMUA programme, the Chief Minister dedicated infrastructure projects worth Rs.313 crore to the people of the district. These include the Padumoni–Rangajan Road and the Golaghat–Merapani Road, with investments of Rs.106 crore and Rs.104 crore, respectively, expected to significantly improve regional connectivity.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a Government Model Degree College built at a cost of Rs.35 crore, new buildings for Bezbarua and Balijan Higher Secondary Schools worth Rs.7 crore and Rs. 8 crore, and an open stage in Golaghat costing Rs.4 crore, among other facilities.
“These projects will go a long way towards strengthening connectivity, education, healthcare and community development across the constituency,” the Chief Minister said, adding that the focus remains on infrastructure that supports education, connectivity, healthcare and community development.

Meanwhile, empowering women remained a key highlight of the visit. The Chief Minister ceremonially distributed Rs.10,000 as seed capital under MMUA to 36,873 women beneficiaries, encouraging entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
In a social media post, he said the support would help thousands of women take confident steps towards becoming Atmanirbhar, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building an “Atal, Avichal, Agragami Assam.”
