Political leaders across parties express shock and grief over the tragic death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, remembering his legacy of public service
Guwahati: The sudden death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a tragic plane crash has sent shockwaves across the country, with leaders from Assam and beyond expressing deep sorrow and paying heartfelt tributes to the veteran politician.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he was “deeply pained” by Pawar’s passing, describing him as a seasoned leader who devoted his life to public service and the welfare of the people, “A seasoned leader who devoted his life to public service and towards the welfare of people, his contributions to state’s development and governance have left a lasting imprint.”.
Extending prayers to Pawar’s family, supporters and the people of Maharashtra, he wrote, “My thoughts and prayers with his family, supporters and the people of Maharashtra in this hour of grief…May he attain sadgâti…Om Shanti.”
Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika also expressed profound grief, calling the loss “difficult to comprehend, and the deep sense of grief it brings is felt by all who knew him and admired his life of service.” He said Pawar would be remembered not merely for the offices he held, but for the sincerity, compassion and dedication with which he served the people and raised their concerns. Hazarika offered prayers for the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family, adding, “My thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones and everyone mourning this irreparable loss.”
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi termed Pawar’s death “deeply saddening” and acknowledged his long years of public service and significant contribution to Maharashtra’s political life. He wrote, “His years of public service and contribution to Maharashtra have left a lasting imprint on the State’s political life.” Gogoi conveyed condolences to Pawar’s family, colleagues and followers, and stressed that a proper and transparent investigation into the crash was essential in the public interest.
Ajit Pawar’s passing has united political leaders across party lines in grief, underscoring the respect he commanded for his dedication to public life and governance.
