Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributes financial aid under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, accelerating Assam’s push toward women-led growth and the goal of creating 40 lakh ‘Lakhpati Baideus

Naoboicha: Reinforcing Assam’s commitment to women-led development, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on January 31, ceremonially distributed financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 each to 31,124 women entrepreneurs at Naoboicha under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA).

The initiative aims to strengthen grassroots entrepreneurship by providing direct financial support to women, enabling them to start or expand small businesses and achieve economic independence. The programme is part of the state government’s broader strategy to transform rural livelihoods and promote self-reliance among women.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasised that empowering women economically is central to Assam’s development vision. He noted that the scheme has already made a significant impact across the state, with 24,97,507 women beneficiaries covered in 101 constituencies so far.

Officials said the assistance would help beneficiaries invest in diverse income-generating activities such as weaving, food processing, farming, small-scale trading, and other micro-enterprises. By strengthening local entrepreneurship, the government hopes to create sustainable household incomes and stimulate the rural economy.

Moreover, the MMUA is a key pillar of Assam’s ambitious mission to create 40 lakh ‘Lakhpati Baideus’ earning at least Rs. 1 lakh annually through self-employment and enterprise. With continued outreach and support, the scheme is steadily reshaping Assam’s socio-economic landscape, placing women at the forefront of growth and development across the state
