City Bus Service Launched in Nagaon to Ease Daily Commutes

District administration rolls out six buses across three key corridors, inauguration set for February 25

Nagaon: In a major step towards improving urban mobility, the Nagaon district administration, in collaboration with the District Transport Department, has launched a new city bus service aimed at making travel within the town smoother, faster and more convenient for residents.

The initiative is expected to significantly benefit students, office-goers and daily commuters who rely on public transport. Officials said the service has been designed to reduce congestion, improve accessibility and ensure affordable travel options across key areas of the town.

The formal inauguration of the city bus service will be held on February 25, 2026, at the historic Nehru Bali premises, with district residents invited to attend the launch event.

In the initial phase, six buses will operate across three major corridors, connecting important commercial, residential and institutional hubs. The Kathiatoli to Dhing Gate route will pass through the Clock Tower and the Metro Hospital area. Another corridor will link Bebejia Chariali with Puranigudam via Stadium Market and Uriagaon. The third route will connect Rupahi Town and Dimou Chariali, covering Mahkhuli and Hojbargaon Bazaar.

Authorities stated that these routes were finalised after assessing public demand and traffic patterns to ensure maximum coverage and convenience.

The buses will run daily from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, covering peak hours to accommodate regular commuters. Officials expressed confidence that the service will bring a positive change to everyday travel, making journeys safer, more reliable and comfortable.

With the launch of the city bus service, Nagaon takes a significant step toward building a more organised and commuter-friendly public transport system.
