Cachar Police Seize Large Consignment of Illicit Liquor in Silchar

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma lauds swift action; 222 cartons seized, three arrested

Cachar: Acting on precise intelligence, Cachar Police intercepted a truck in Silchar and seized a large consignment of illegally transported Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), dealing a major blow to bootlegging activities in the region.

The intercepted vehicle (NL 01 AB 57 41) was found carrying 222 cartons, amounting to 2,025 litres of IMFL, being transported without valid authorisation. Police immediately took action and apprehended three persons involved in the illegal operation.

Taking to social media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the enforcement drive, stating, “Bootleggers on the move, Law on the groove.” He added that acting on precise intelligence, Silchar Police successfully intercepted the truck and made the seizure, commending the team for their prompt and effective action.

Legal proceedings have been initiated, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the illicit consignment.
