BTC Chief Flags Off ‘Dispur Chalo Yatra 2026’: Calls for NDA Sweep in BTR

Hagrama Mohilary rallies support across 15 seats, backs continuation of Himanta Biswa Sarma as Chief Minister

Gossaigaon: Bodoland Territorial Council Chief and president of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), Hagrama Mohilary, on February 26, inaugurated the ‘Dispur Chalo Yatra 2026’ from the Gossaigaon Legislative Assembly constituency, marking the beginning of a major political mobilisation drive ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.

Launching the yatra amid enthusiastic participation from party workers and supporters, Mohilary said the campaign symbolises unity, purpose, and the collective aspirations of the people. In a message shared on social media, he noted that the overwhelming support from the people of Gossaigaon had strengthened the party’s resolve, adding that the rally was “not just a march but a movement for progress, justice, and the voice of the people,” aimed at ensuring that every voice is heard and every aspiration fulfilled.

Addressing a large gathering, Mohilary asserted that it is the NDA’s responsibility to secure victory in all 15 seats across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). He emphasised that a decisive mandate would strengthen development and political stability in the region. Reiterating his support for the alliance, he also backed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to continue leading Assam after the next Assembly polls.

Responding to speculation regarding Rajya Sabha representation, Mohilary clarified that whether Pramod Boro, president of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), joins the NDA is not a concern for the BPF, stating that no formal discussions on the matter have taken place within the alliance.
