BJP National President offers prayers at Barekuri Namghar and pays homage at Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha’s Maidam, reaffirming the party’s connection with Assam’s heritage.

Tinsukia: National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Nitin Nabin, on February 19, visited Barekuri village in Tinsukia district, where he paid obeisance at the historic Bor Namghar and interacted with members of the local community.

At the sacred Namghar, a prominent spiritual and cultural centre of the Moran community, Nabin sought blessings from devotees and was accorded a traditional welcome by the Namghar’s Gayan-Bayan troupe. The devotional performances lent a solemn and festive atmosphere to the visit, while women devotees extended ceremonial blessings in keeping with local customs.

Following the Namghar visit, the BJP leader proceeded to Guijan to pay homage at the Maidam (memorial) of Sarbananda Singha Dev, the revered ruler and founder of the historic Matak Kingdom. Floral tributes were offered in remembrance of the leader’s courage, vision, and lasting contributions to Assam’s socio-cultural legacy.

Strengthening grassroots ties, Nabin also participated in the Booth Committee meeting at Booth No. 231 of the Dibrugarh constituency. Interacting with karyakartas, he praised their dedication and organisational strength.

“The energy and commitment of our karyakartas clearly indicate that the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to script a historic hat-trick in Assam,” he said.

Party leaders said the visit reflects the BJP’s continued engagement with Assam’s traditions and historical roots, while strengthening grassroots connections across Upper Assam. The tour combined cultural reverence with political outreach, highlighting the party’s efforts to blend heritage with public engagement in the region.
