Guwahati: Bimal Borah distributed financial assistance to tea garden workers under the ‘Eti Koli Duti Paat’ scheme, a welfare initiative of the government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma in Assam.
The scheme provides one-time financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to tea garden workers, recognising their contribution to the state’s historic tea industry.
During the programme, 740 workers from four tea estates: Diksom Tea Estate, Thekeraguri Tea Estate, Hukmol Tea Estate and Amulyabari Tea Estate received the financial assistance.

In another programme held the same day, 935 tea workers from Nilmoni Tea Estate and Salmari Tea Estate also received the Rs 5,000 one-time assistance under the scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Borah said the initiative aims to recognise and support members of the tea garden community who have played a vital role in sustaining Assam’s more than 200-year-old tea legacy. He added that the government continues to work towards improving the welfare of tea workers across the state.
The minister also interacted with beneficiaries during the distribution programme and ceremonially handed over the assistance on behalf of the state government.
