Foundation-laying ceremony held at Bokakhat Natya Mandir premises as organisations unite to honour the enduring musical legacy of Zubeen Garg

Bokakhat: MLA Atul Bora on March 9, laid the foundation stone for a statue of noted Assamese singer Zubeen Garg at the premises of Bokakhat Natya Mandir.
The statue is being constructed to honour the cultural and musical legacy of Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most celebrated artists. The decision to install the statue at the Bokakhat Natya Mandir premises was taken after consultations with various organisations in Bokakhat, who came together to pay tribute to the iconic singer.
Speaking during the programme, the MLA urged those involved in the project to ensure that the construction work is completed within the stipulated time while maintaining proper quality standards.

The MLA further said the musical contributions of Zubeen Garg have left a lasting impact on Assamese culture and will continue to inspire younger generations. Bora added that the singer’s legacy will always remain alive in the hearts of the people of Assam.
The programme was hosted by Jitu Sharma Rajkhowa, president of the Assam State Journalists’ Association. The president and secretary of Bokakhat Natya Mandir, along with other distinguished guests and representatives of various organisations, were also present on the occasion.
