DGP chairs ICJS/CCTNS 2.0 meet; statewide workshop strengthens cyber awareness and fraud prevention

Guwahati: Assam Police has intensified efforts to modernise the state’s criminal justice and cybersecurity systems through a series of high-level meetings and capacity-building initiatives.
Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh, IPS, chaired the State Empowered Committee meeting on ICJS/CCTNS 2.0 at the Assam Police Headquarters (APHQ), along with the Special DGP of CID, to accelerate end-to-end digital integration across the criminal justice system.

The meeting focused on key reforms, including e-Forensics 2.0, implementation of the Criminal Procedure Identification (CrPI) system for biometric identification, digital transmission of FIRs and charge sheets to courts, e-Summons, and strengthening ICJS infrastructure, such as bandwidth and connectivity.
Emphasis was also placed on training and capacity-building for prosecutors. Officials said the initiative aims to create a smarter, transparent, and technology-driven justice ecosystem across Assam.

Moreover, earlier on February 2, Assam Police partnered with the Cyber Peace Foundation, the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance, and Mastercard to organise a National Capacity Building Workshop on Cybersecurity, Cyber Hygiene, and Financial Safety under the Sishu Mitra Programme.

The workshop, inaugurated by Sarmistha Barua, APS, AIG (W) and Nodal Officer of the programme, brought together police officers, civil society groups, and community-based organisations. Sessions focused on developing Cyber First Responders and raising awareness about digital and financial fraud risks.
Following the event, CyberPeace Founder Major Vineet Kumar interacted with the DGP to explore future collaboration on cybersecurity and cyber resilience.
