Appointment letters distributed in Khanapara as Assam’s total government recruitment under the current tenure reaches 1,64,359

Guwahati: In a major step toward strengthening merit-based recruitment, the Assam government on Thursday distributed 5,690 appointment letters to successful candidates in the education and power departments.
The appointment letters were formally handed over at a programme held in Khanapara, Guwahati, by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The event marked another phase of the state government’s ongoing drive to provide transparent and merit-based employment opportunities to the youth.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring fair recruitment in public services. He said the administration has prioritised transparency and efficiency in the hiring process to create greater trust among job aspirants.
With the latest round of recruitment, the total number of government jobs provided during the current tenure of the government has reached 1,64,359, according to official figures.
The appointments cover key positions in the education sector and the power department, which play a critical role in strengthening public services and infrastructure across the state.
The government said the initiative reflects its broader objective of empowering young people through employment and contributing to the vision of a developed and prosperous Assam. Officials added that recruitment across departments is being carried out through structured and transparent processes to ensure that opportunities reach deserving candidates.
