Assam Government Launches Jibon Prerana Scheme to Support Youth

A sum of Rs 2,500 monthly assistance launched by the Assam government for 2025 graduates reflected a continued focus on youth empowerment

Guwahati:  In a major move toward empowering the youths of Assam, the state government has announced the launch of the ‘Jibon Prerana’ scheme. The main aim of this scheme is to aid young graduates who have completed their graduation during a crucial phase of their careers.

The Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his social media to inform about the scheme. The government reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising their aspirations and providing them with the right opportunities to grow

Under this new scheme, the beneficiaries will be given Rs. 2,500 per month for a period of one year, with the benefit being available from the 10th of February onwards. The financial aid will enable these young people to handle their basic needs until they are ready to pursue higher education, competitive examinations, skill development, or entry into the job market, thus relieving them of financial stress to build their future with optimism.

The ‘Jibon Prerana’ initiative is a part of the collective plan of the Assam government’s broader vision to uplift its people through targeted welfare and development programmes. Over the years, initiatives have been rolled out by the Assam Government to benefit students, women, farmers, entrepreneurs, and the unemployed, focusing on education, skill development, financial inclusion, and self-reliance. All of these initiatives have been chalked out on the lines to create a supportive ecosystem where talent is nurtured and ambition is rewarded.

Through the implementation of such initiatives as ‘Jibon Prerana’, the government reinforces its stance on youth being the pillars of progress for Assam. This move is indicative of positive governance, recognising the challenges faced by young graduates and responding with timely support.

This initiative has been appreciated for being a move in the right direction and signalling that the government is committed to the development of Assam’s youth in their own chosen fields.
