“Newly appointed teachers can now apply, and the earlier 2-year restriction on reapplying has been withdrawn,” the minister says

Guwahati: Educatiion Minister Ranoj Pegu said the Government of Assam has simplified the mutual transfer process for teachers, allowing newly appointed teachers to apply and removing the earlier restriction on reapplying within two years.
According to a notification issued by the Department of School Education, mutual transfers will now be permitted for newly appointed teachers, provided the process takes place between teachers of the same status through the prescribed online system.
The government has also withdrawn the earlier rule that prevented a teacher who had already availed a transfer from applying again within a period of two years.
Officials said the decision was taken in the public interest and for administrative convenience so that teachers can benefit from locational advantages and focus on providing better academic support to students.
The notification added that mutual transfers among teachers of the same status will not affect the pupil-teacher ratio in schools. The provisions will be implemented through the online teacher transfer portal with immediate effect.
