Assam government accelerates self-reliance drive with first instalment support to 5,958 youth across Golaghat, Jorhat, and Majuli

Jorhat: Continuing the distribution of financial assistance under the ambitious Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan (CMAAA 2.0), Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially distributed the first tranche of support to 5,958 budding entrepreneurs from Golaghat, Jorhat, and Majuli, marking another significant step toward strengthening Assam’s self-reliance movement.
The programme, held at the premises of Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology, witnessed overwhelming enthusiasm as students and young aspirants received financial assistance aimed at helping them start their own ventures.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister shared the government’s broader vision to extend the benefits of the scheme to over 10 lakh entrepreneurs in the coming days, transforming CMAAA into one of the largest entrepreneurship-driven support programmes in the region.

Under this phase, district-wise assistance was distributed to 2,995 beneficiaries from Golaghat, 2,366 from Jorhat, and 597 from Majuli. Additionally, 584 beneficiaries from Bokakhat constituency received the first instalment. The financial support is expected to enable recipients to launch small businesses, promote innovation, and contribute to the local economy.
Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita, Ministers Ajanta Neog and Bimal Borah, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, along with several MLAs, district officials, and beneficiaries.
With the steady rollout of CMAAA 2.0, the Assam government continues to build a strong ecosystem that nurtures enterprise, encourages innovation, and empowers youth. The scheme stands as a cornerstone of the state’s vision to create a resilient, self-reliant Assam driven by local talent and home-grown businesses.
